Cornelius acted on the vision and sent two of his servants and a soldier to Joppa to find Peter. When they arrived, they shared Cornelius’s story with Peter and asked him to come back with them to Caesarea Maritima, where Cornelius lived.
Peter agreed to go with them and when he arrived, he found that Cornelius had gathered his relatives and close friends together to hear what he had to say.
After greeting them, Peter began by telling them about Jesus– how He had been crucified but rose again from the dead and is now seated at the right hand of God (Acts 10:39-41). It was through Jesus’ death that forgiveness of sins is possible for all people (Acts 10:42-43).
As Peter continued speaking, the Holy Spirit fell on all who were listening (Acts 10:44). Those present spoke in tongues and glorified God (v. 46). Then Peter asked if anyone present would like to be baptized and they all responded affirmatively (v47-48).
And so it was that Cornelius became the first Gentile convert!
