On June 27, 2019, it was announced that he had signed a three-year contract with Çaykur Rizespor.
Bassong married his long-time girlfriend Stéphanie Rocher in September 2017. The couple have two sons together: Noah who was born in 2014 and Eli born in 2016.

Garde, who was most recently the head coach of Olympique Lyonnais in his native France, has a wealth of experience at the highest levels of European football. He then moved into coaching, first working as an assistant coach with Arsenal before becoming head coach at Lyon in 2011.
